Texas Outdoor Heritage Day

August 4, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm CDT

Free – $6

Texas history comes alive at McKinney Falls State Park!

The TPWD Buffalo Soldiers honor those who bravely served in the first African-American regular army regiments (1867-1948). We will also have a Ranger to share stories of Thomas and Anna McKinney, the namesake of the park who lived here from 1850 – the late 1870s.

Buffalo Soldier history, Texas history, outdoor skills, kid-friendly, and fun outdoors!

Come and join the Buffalo Soldiers of TPWD as they set up in McKinney Falls. The soldiers will tell stories of their time on the Texas frontier and teach outdoor skills through several outdoor skill activities.

This is a free event but normal park entry fees apply. Spend the day with the Buffalo Soldiers and friends while taking a trip through Texas’ History.
