Star Stories: Stargazing on the Peninsula

December 29, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST

Learn about the stars and constellations visible above East Texas.

Take a tour of the night sky to learn about the stars. Rangers will show you some of the most popular constellations and tell the stories behind them. There may be an opportunity to view any visible planets or nebulae through a telescope. The visible stars and planets change a little each month, so you’ll see new things each time you come to visit!

We recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, binoculars if you have them, and a flashlight to assist with walking back to your campsite or vehicle.

Star Stories will take place on the main peninsula accessible from the activity center day use area.

In the case of cloudy skies, we will offer a ½ mile night hike around the peninsula area or other star related activities, meeting at the activity center above the peninsula.

Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.

No reservations necessary.
