First Day Hike at MTSP – Afternoon Adventure

January 1, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm CST

If New Year’s morning comes too early, come leg it a little later on!

Make a resolution to be a good steward for Texas State Parks, and start it off right from day one. Kick off the New Year by exploring Mission Tejas on a guided hike with a Ranger!

– New Year’s Day is a great time to start dramatic changes in your life for the upcoming year. It’s also a great time to enjoy dramatic landscapes and scenery in the Pineywoods of deep east Texas!

– Our moderate difficulty hike will cover just over 2 miles of quiet winter scenery here in the park. We will explore the Steep Ravine Trail beginning with an easy downhill trek to a the hillside pine forest, then onto a network of striking cutbacks along wooded ravines winding all the way back to where we started.

– Visit Mission Tejas State Park on day one of 2019 and see how much we can improve by 2020…

Bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and join us — your new year will always be better outside!

Meet in the parking lot of the New HQ Building.

*Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
