Caddo Dog Challenge

December 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am CST

Could your pup cut it in the days of the Caddo?

Before horses made their way to North America, dogs carried what man couldn’t!

– Bring your furry friend to MTSP and see if they can handle pulling an unloaded replica travois for a few feet! Don’t worry, this is just for fun. Your pup won’t have to pull the sled for many miles and many years like their predecessors did.

– We’ll have a few different sized sleds to choose from, for dogs that could fit in a mixing bowl as well as ones that could eat out of one.

– After we see if anyone’s pooch is in touch with their ancestors, we’ll leave the sleds by the Mission and get the whole pack back to their roots with an easy hike along our hardwood bottomlands. There is plenty for us to see and for them to smell on this route, coming in at just over a mile.

– Remember y’all, pets must be on leash at Texas State Parks!

Meet @ the Mission. Participants should bring water for themselves and their companion, a bowl, appropriate clothing/footwear for the outdoors, and be ready to leave with a new admiration for your best friend!

*Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
