Build Your Own Bird Nest

December 8, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm CST

Don’t be an egghead, come learn about nests and build your very own!

While most birds only use their nests to keep their eggs warm, some live in them all year round to keep themselves warm as well.

– Can you make a nest warm enough to help you stay cozy for the coming winter? Come build your own bird’s nest out of natural materials found in the Pineywoods, and try your hand at being a real birdbrain!

– This activity is great for children, hands-on learners, and anyone who enjoys a fun experience for their tactile senses. We will talk a bit about some birds found in our area who use their nest all year round. After that, we can choose our materials and go for it!

– Remember, we can’t gather materials from inside the park! All our nest materials will be donated from local landowners, so we can celebrate the East Texas landscape while protecting it inside Mission Tejas.

Meet @ the Playground. Participants may want to bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and their sharpest beak!

*Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
