About the Park

There are three public boat ramps located on the shores of 3,280-acre Aquilla Lake in Hill County. The boat ramps are: Dairy Hill, Old School, and Tailrace. A public fishing pier is located below the dam.

In addition to boating, fishing, and water sports, opportunities exist for picnicking, birding, nature study, and wildlife viewing.

 




Location

Aquilla Lake is located approximately 23 miles north of Waco. From Hillsboro, travel 5 miles south on Interstate Highway 35 (IH-35), then proceed west on FM 310 for 6 miles to the lake.

  • The Dairy Hill boat ramp is located on eastern lakeshore, near the southeast end of the bridge on FM 1947.
  • The Old School boat ramp is located on the western lakeshore. Take FM 933 and then follow FM 2127.
  • The Tailrace boat ramp is located below the dam, accessible via Highway 310.

Hours

Open 7 days a week year-round.

No overnight camping is permitted.

Fees

There is no entrance fee for the park, and no fee for lake access.

Apache Creek Park in San Antonio (Bexar County)

Apache Creek Park is an 80-acre park featuring Apache Creek Trail, over one dozen picnic sites, a basketball court, and a large multi-sport field.

Apache Creek Trail is a paved 3.5-mile hike and bike trail that comprises part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System. The Apache Creek Trail segment makes it possible for bicyclists, walkers, and runners to travel free of roadway traffic between San Antonio’s Westside and Downtown.




Location

The trailhead is located on El Paso St. between SW 19th St. & S. Hamilton Ave.

Hours

The park is open 7 days a week year-round, from 5 AM to 11 PM, for day use activities.

No overnight camping is permitted.

Fees

There is no entrance fee for the park.

Apache Creek Linear Park in San Antonio, Texas (Bexar County)

About the City Park

Apache Creek Linear Park covers 22.36 acres along Apache Creek and Zarzamora Creek. The park’s .8 miles of paved trail for hiking, walking, running, and bicycling comprise part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System. Five fitness stations are also located on the trail. Scenic vistas, as well as opportunities for birding, nature study, and wildlife observation are also available.




Location

The park’s trailhead at the parking lot of Lago Vista Apartments, west of Apache Creek bridge, is accessible via West Commerce Street.

The park is open 7 days a week year-round, from 5 AM to 11 PM, for day use activities.

No overnight camping is permitted.

There is no entrance fee for the park.
