About the Nature Preserve / Wilderness Park

There are three public boat ramps located on the shores of 3,280-acre Aquilla Lake in Hill County. The boat ramps are: Dairy Hill, Old School and Tailrace. A public fishing pier is located below the dam.

In addition to boating, fishing and water sports, opportunities exist for: birding, hunting, nature study, water sports and wildlife viewing.

Area Services

Location

From Hillsboro, travel 5 miles south on Interstate Highway 35 (IH-35), then proceed west on FM 310 for 6 miles to the lake.

The Dairy Hill boat ramp is located on eastern lakeshore, near the southeast end of the bridge on FM 1947.
The Old School boat ramp is located on the western lakeshore. Take FM 933 and then follow FM 2127.
The Tailrace boat ramp is located below the dam, accessible via Highway 310.

The nearest major Texas cities are: Abilene, Austin, Dallas
