Abilene State Park is a 529.4-acre park near Lake Abilene south of Abilene, Texas. It features camping, trailer facilities, picnicking, shelters, a swimming pool, and hiking. A large grove of oak, cedar, elm and pecan trees, now a favorite picnic area, was once a campground for Comanche Indians. The park is located about 15 miles southwest of Abilene, on FM 89.

Balmorhea State Park is a 46-acre park located on the San Solomon Springs near Balmorhea, Texas, in Reeves County. The park's primary feature is the 1.75-acre, 3.5-million gallon freshwater pool built around the park's constant-flow springs. The pool is not chlorinated since 15 million gallons of freshwater flow into the pool daily. A popular swimming and SCUBA diving location, the pool's water temperature ranges from 72 to 76°F with a maximum depth of 25 feet.

Battleship Texas State Historic Site is located near Houston in LaPorte, Texas, in eastern Harris County. It is the final resting place of the USS Texas, a United States Navy battleship commissioned in 1914 that served in both World Wars. Decommissioned in 1948, Texas is the first US battleship to become a permanent museum ship.
