Accessible from Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, a short path leads to the remains of the Sam Nail Ranch, established in 1916. Partial adobe walls of a one-story house, and a still functioning windmill are all that's left of Sam & Nena Nail's ranch, in addition to some non-native fig & pecan trees they planted which still grow here. Big Bend National Park, October 2001.
