Created by using mortars to grind seeds & roots, these holes can be found near rivers and streams throughout Big Bend National Park in areas known to have had previous human occupation. The holes pictured are located on a spur of the Rio Grande Village Nature Trail in Big Bend National Park. (October 2001)
