5 out of 5 stars Pretty Decent tent for casual camping   November 15, 2009

This tent was bought and used the same week when I went camping. It's pretty straightforward to pitch, and it worked as expected in moderately cool weather. With that said, I would not recommend this tent for anything other than casual camping, since it's not a "pro" tent for extreme conditions. For camping in the backyard or a weekend camping trip in late spring/summer/early fall, this tent can handle that.

5 out of 5 stars Very good tent for the money   October 25, 2009

My son & I went mountain camping in North Carolina. On the first night, it was windy, raining and the temp dropped to 25 degrees ( the rain turned to snow & sleet). The tent kept us completely dry and out of the wind. It was easy to put up and actually stores easily back in the original tent bag it comes in. We also had enough room for two adult males and our two back packs. Again, for $57 it is a very good tent and I would recommend it to anyone that does casual camping a few times a year.

5 out of 5 stars Solid tent for the price   October 20, 2009

I bought this tent for my husband and I to use on short camping trips, and we have found it to be easy to set up and water resistant in light rain. We're really happy with it, especially considering the price.

The only problem is that our air mattress uses up most of the floorspace, so it's a pain to change clothes or do pretty much anything at all inside the tent. But then again, it's always going to be a pain to change inside a tent unless the tent is tall enough to stand up in.

3 out of 5 stars Defective   October 12, 2009

It is a nice tent for the price. $40 is a great price for a 7x7 tent.

Unfortunately, mine is defective. The first time I put it up, I noticed that one of the black straps that hooks the tent body to the poles had not been sewn on correctly. So, the strap was frayed, and there was a hole in the seam that went clear through.

I called Coleman to ask about their warranty, and they told me that I have to pay shipping to have it repaired! I told them that their policy seemed unfair, but they didn't seem to care. They gave me the choice of paying for shipping or paying someone to repair it locally. Either way, they would not reimburse.

They told me that other companies require customers to pay for shipping both ways. I really don't care what other companies require. If a product is obviously defective on the first use, the company should take full responsibility for it.

4 out of 5 stars Nice basic tent   September 22, 2009

This tent is really easy to set up, and has nice ventilation. I also liked the cooler access but didn't get a chance to try it, looks like it might be too low to the ground. I am excited to see how this works in the rain - I like that the sealed floor comes up on the sides. I will probably water proof the tent on my own because that's always been helpful in the past. I would recommend a 4 person tent for someone who wants to put a double air mattress in there for two.
