About Columbia Sportswear Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, Chairman of the Board, and her son, Tim Boyle, President and CEO, lead the company. Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60 year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign. The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

Quality sleeping bag but... July 1, 2010 Shelly As said, quality isn't the issue for Columbia. However, I used this sleeping bag for crashing three nights on a hotel floor during AnimeNEXT 2010. A hotel room with air condition/heat and a carpeted floor.
If you plan to use this sleeping bag OUTSIDE, don't. The sleeping bag is thin, the fleece didn't help me when one night, my roommate upped the air conditioner to 60 degree F. You'll first need to invest in liners and etc. Check before hand if this is cost effective for you because there are better sleeping bag out there. :)
On the other hand, I adore this because it fits into an included mesh bag and into my duffel. Less for me to carry. ^__^ And it works for the my intended purpose. Overall, this was a good deal.
Nice, but not durable April 2, 2010 lcseds (Durham, NC United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a nice size bag. Packs pretty small. We've used it at cabins, hotels, etc. Problem is that they are not durable. We have bought two, and after maybe a dozen uses, the stitching on both bags has come undone. We have sewed them up, but I imagine they will start coming apart again soon, just in a different area. Shame really. I have enjoyed many Columbia products. These sleeping bags are a let down.
Santa bought a sleeping bag for tj February 5, 2010 Yvonne Linderholm 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It is a perfect sleeping back to sleepovers and it is really easy to wash, meaning its not so big that it couldn't fit in the washer.
Size & Weight Specifics November 29, 2009 Sky Blue 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This bag has a full length zipper to enable it to open like a blanket. It also has a small velcro piece at the top to keep the bag from unzipping while you sleep. The blue and green polyester areas of the sleeping bag are a bit slick & slippery, but the tan microfleece liner is soft and comfortable to sleep on.
I haven't tested this in the field yet, but it appears to be a well made, compact & fairly lightweight summer sleeping bag. The specs on Amazon aren't very clear so here is some accurate measurements:
Sleeping Bag = 1261 grams = 2 lbs 12.5 oz
Incl Mesh Bag = 33 grams = 1.2 oz
There are 2 bungies sewn into the outer foot area; When rolled up tightly and fastened with those bungies, it is 6" x 17". (If you compress it in a strong stuff sack, you can probably make it smaller.) The sleeping bag only fills about 80% of the included mesh bag, so I plan to roll up my silk sleeping sheet inside also.
Hope you found this review to be helpful.
Excellent August 12, 2009 Robert Ford (Capitola, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very well made, have used it both outdoors on a balmy evening, and indoors where the temperature was about 50. In both cases, I was very comfortable. This was exactly what I had hoped for when ordering :)
