5 out of 5 stars Effective and potent   August 25, 2009

I've been taking Piracetam for almost a year now, and must say it definitely works to increase alertness and memory, and I would even say it makes me a bit smarter too. It definitely has a stronger effect if you mix it with Choline (100g of 1Fast400 Choline Citrate mixed with 500g of Primaforce Piracetam is my standard combo). To test if the effects were real or imagined I got two of my friends to try it with me, and both reported an increase in alertness after only a few days of continuous use. One friend actually felt the effects right away, and found his optimal dose is only around 2g a day. I was much less sensitive, requiring about 6g optimal daily dose. The other friend was in between. The effects were positive for all of us, but our sensitivity and optimal dosage varied, so I recommend starting small and stepping up your dosage until you find diminished returns.

Also, Piracetam tastes very bitter. The best way to hide the taste is mixing it with something else that's bitter, like grapefruit juice or lemonade. I don't think it's that bad though, and stir it with a small amount of water and chug it. One more thing, this is NOT a substitute for real medication. I have ADD but wanted to explore alternatives to prescription drugs. The Piracetam helps overall cognition, but nothing enables me to focus as much as my Ritalin.

4 out of 5 stars Good company, but...   June 30, 2009

So, the package came through, and I actually received the product I paid for. But the product itself really didn't seem to have any effect on me. I've been taking it for more than a month now with no real discernable effects from the usual.

Oh, by the way, the stuff about piracetam tasting horrible is true. Best thing to do is mix it in your orange juice, as that pretty much completely masks the taste.

This product is what it claims to be and does definitely has an effect on the thought process but I didn't find it to be entirely beneficial. Particularly if I don't get a full nights sleep it makes me feel tired and slow for a while after taking even medium doses. After googling "piracetam tired" I see that I'm far from alone there. Useful occasionally to put oneself in a different state of mind, did seem to help with recall, but that's negated by the inability to verbalize these thoughts efficiently. Worth a try at this price as everyone is different with these things but not quite the wonder drug I was expecting.

5 out of 5 stars Good stuff for memory/studying   May 26, 2009

Piracetam has been part of what I call my study stack for college. While it -might- not be as good as aniracetam it's much cheaper and easily available.

One thing to note when considering it is that it tastes utterly horrible. If you've tried bulk PEA...you aren't prepared. If you've had bulk BCAA's...they're like candy in comparison. An entire lemon crystal light can't mask it. Either shotgun it and/or chase it or cap them. It's that bad.

Using a dosage of 2g I've had good results (3.85) stacked with Huperzine A, a good B-Complex and Lecithin (important to take this or some sort of choline with piracetam).

This product is somewhat bitter, and the second nootropic that I have tried, (the other was oxiracetam). I think the oxiracetam worked rather well, and I think this product also works, but oxiracetam (and some of the other racetams), seem rather expensive (even given that the dose is so much smaller).

I was hoping to get a similar effect from this piracetam, and when I made my purchase this looked like the most inexpensive tub of piracetam available (though the tub kinda looks bumble-bee-ish). I figured that just becuase it was inexpensive doesn't mean that is does not work, but apparently folks have been shying away from this product for some reason? Maybe it's the bumble bee-ish looking packaging?

It is probably better not to mix this piracetam supplement simply with water, (or any nootropic for that matter), becuase of the bitter taste, as it seems better suited to tonic water, juice, or something to mask the tase a bit. It might be even wiser to put it in (1-gram) capsules since the product seems to attract water and clump (though it mixes well with water when it ISN'T in clumps).

This caveat, hygroscopicity, may be of no fault of the manufacturers, but keep this property in mind if you don't plan on using quite a bit of this stuff rather quickly. My tub is starting to clump, so I might need to break out my mortar and pestle.

The "normal" or recommended dose listed on the package of piracetam is 3 grams, though I have read stories of some folks using as high as 9 grams in one day. Piracetam is supposedly rather non-toxic, so this seems reasonable, and I noticed no ill effects from such a seemingly large dose on occasion.

I recommend that one keep this product in the fridge, as I've read somewhat that spoilage might occur (likely due to contamination), since the tub comes with a 1 gram scoop that might easily contaminate the entire tub. Given this information, it would seem especially prudent to utilize good (standard) hygenic procedure, for example thorough hand washing, before touching the scoop which is supposed to be placed back inside the container after use.

If the option is available, and doesn't seem like too much trouble, it might be wise to immediately instill the piracetam in 1 gram capsules before it has a chance to clump up. I'm just speaking from expereince, and this is not yet something that I have tried, but I might give it a whirl the next time around.

If the stronger stuff was more affordable, the other similar but more potent nootropics in the piracetam family, I would be purchasing those products instead of this, but for the price this product seems like a reasonable value, given the caveats aforementioned in my review. I give it four out of five stars, and I would probably purchase this product again, especially at the special discount price!
