5 out of 5 stars Stanley Thermos   October 31, 2009
June (Central, SC)
This is the classic Stanley thermos I remember from my childhood. It is the perfect size for a hot lunch and keeps food hot for at least 6 hours. The wide opening is nice for pouring food into the thermos, for eating directly out of the thermos, and for easy cleaning. The lid can be used as a cup, which is nice for hot tea.

3 out of 5 stars Hot...not hot enough   October 27, 2009
kmfnyc
Slightly disappointed in this food container. It doesn't keep food hot for the advertised 12 hours. So far I have only tried oatmeal. It cooks it perfectly in the container, but I get about 3 1/2 hours before it becomes cool. It's possible that liquids will fare better, though, my Stanley vacuum bottle peaks at 3 1/2 hours, too. I do follow the instructions for preheating with boiling water, and the container remains cool to the touch which indicates that it is "working". But I definitely won't be able to use it to eat hot soup for dinner after work before my night classes. I bought this in order to prepare oatmeal on marathon morning when I have about 3 1/2 hours from when I will make it until when I will eat it, so it will suffice for that need.

5 out of 5 stars Hot lunches   October 9, 2009

I eat lunch approximately 5 - 6 hours after adding it to my Stanley Food Jar and my food is still hot. I've had great success preheating my food jar with hot tap water instead of boiling water prior to adding my food. This saves me a lot of time preparing my lunch in the mornings.

The 17 oz. jar is big enough to hold a large serving of soup. The cup on top of the jar only holds 12 oz. of food so there may be times you have to pour out a second helping, but I like the size of the bowl and the container so it has never been a problem for me.

This product is also very easy to clean. There aren't any crevices or hard to reach places that can trap food.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   September 21, 2009

Great item to have your luch at the perfect temperature.
I use it for fresh fruit and it works perfectly. Totally recommend it sif you don't care it's a little wide but that helps a lot on the cleaning part.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product   September 10, 2009
Ian S. Schneider (North Adams, MA USA)
This product is both sturdy and reliable. It performs well in the field when used as directed. I will preheat at 6:30 am, and still have a steaming hot lunch at 1:00 pm. It fits nicely in my lunch box, and was surprisingly warm when accidentally left in the "cold section" with the ice pack. A definite must have for people wanting a hot, homemade lunch on cold days.
