| Customer Reviews: poorly organized May 28, 2009 girl in the pink jacket 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
The book is good for finding random hikes, but they are poorly organized. You can't tell which ones are closer to San Antonio, or which ones are closer to Austin. Also, after living in the area (San Antonio) for 2 years now, we have found 2 "hikes" that aren't even in the book! Please don't be expecting any real hikes to be found in the area around San Antonio. They are more just little jaunts and winding paths...some of the hikes in this book are actually major streets in downtown San Antonio!! I was hoping to find some really unique trails in this book but it has let us down. I've decided you have to get out of Texas to really find any decent hiking.

Excellent Book January 17, 2009 A. Wesseling 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my sister for Christmas because she had just recently moved to the Austin area. She loves the it and has already been on some of the hikes and says that the descriptions and information about each hiking trial is very helpful and having this book actually helps motivate you to get out there and do the hikes.
More Austin than San Antonio October 9, 2006 lhb (Texas) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Excellent book, very descriptive but there are more Austin trails than SA trails. Some of the trails in this book have become our faves and we would never have found them without the book.
Hiking in Austin October 19, 2005 Michael H. Reitzel 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a good basic book for finding the public hiking trails that are on the beaten path. It is very useful to find what is publically available. It isn't for finding those paths that are hard to find.
I do recommend it.
