High quality back pack for a great price August 5, 2009 Eric (LA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my dad for his birthday and he has since used it on several long camping trips. The design is clever (you can get to the bottom of the inner compartment of the backpack without having to go through the top and unpack everything in between). It comes with a rainfly and every pocket seems to serve a functional purpose. It is a fairly large pack and serves well for long hiking trips.
Only complaint would be the waist strap size. If your waist is less than 33-34 inches then don't buy this as you won't be able to tighten the waist strap all the way which puts all the pack pressure on your shoulders instead of your waist, which isn't ideal for long hiking trips.
High Sierra Rocks!!!! July 17, 2009 Traveller (Auburn, CA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This review is more intended for the service from High Sierra than the product. The product itself is great, I got it with a really good deal so I don't have any complaints about it.
So, here is my story. I took this bag to Europe with me; at the beginning of the trip it was fine even though I packed with 30lbs of weight in it.......I know.....but after couple days of my trip I began to feel the bag wobbles a lot when I was walking. So, I stopped and checked and figured out that one of the shoulder strap was missing (not the main one, but the one that tied form the main one to the upper portion of the bag); I examined it in details and found no torn or tear so I suspected that it was missing right out from the manufacture (why I didn't noticed it from the very beginning?? I guess I am a bummer LOL).
I came back to the states and I shoot them an email with couple pictures to explain what's going on and guess what? I received a brand new bag from them today. All it costs was the shipping.........for a product tags cut out from the old bag (cost me $2). On top of that, they gave me $10 coupon for next time purchases (even though it's a marketing strategy). What I am trying to explain is they do have superior services. High Sierra you rock!!!!!
great pack for the money July 15, 2009 Z. Thomas 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
i have used this pack twice now for long hikes and overnight camping out in the colorado rockies. my girlfriend got the explorer 55 and fits her perfect, so being 6'5" i went with the larger pack. her pack fits me and the long trail 90 fits me too. the 90 has more pockets on the outside than the 55, and holds a ton more stuff, which makes it a lot heavier. i haven't used the water reservoir pocket yet except to put my flashlight in, not sure if all reservoirs will fit or not. had a sqeaking issue, but then just kept readjusting it while hiking and it went away. the zippers seem strong so far and the material is surprisingly stronger than it looks. both of the packs are super adjustable, so i think it really must come down to how much can you haul and how much do you WANT to haul. you can pretty much take the whole campsite in the 90, but it will weigh as much as the mountain youre hiking...
Love this pack July 15, 2009 Gary N 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
