great for 2-3h bike ride November 17, 2009 Alain I picked this over the classic 70oz pack because it has 2 pockets and a expandable area to put in layers or pack a lunch, while not being really heavier and it has a better ventilated back which was important to me - I don't like to get hot from a backpack!
Love this water backpack and I don't know why I waited this long to get one. I can easily drink on the go, end up drinking more and have more energy on the go. Good for 2-3h ride for me, while my 1L frame attached bottle was limiting me to 1h+ ride.
If I ever get to do 4h+ ride, I can always bring my cage watter bottle as well, as to not have to carry a bigger/ehavier 3L backpack around, and just refill it...
at under $40 it's a no brainer for any MTB.
Camelbak Rogue November 9, 2009 Iceman Rider (Michigan) No one makes a hydration pack like Camelbak. I bought this a month ago to replace my cheap hydration pack and I am sorry I waited so long for one of these. I have used this for 150+ miles of mountain biking so far usually 1.5-2.5 hour rides and the 70oz is enough in cooler weather. My favorite features are the 90deg. mouth piece, the velcro straps that keep the extra shoulder straps for flopping around, and the plastic clip inside the bottom compartment that I can put my key ring on and have extra confidence that it is not going to fall out. Nice pack!
Tour de France....baby November 4, 2009 P. Furst This system works great...Compact and light, with enough space to carry most things for a
moderate ride 20-30 miles. The water in the bladder tastes fine..no taste at all as a matter of fact,
and adding some ice-cubes keeps the water cold and cools off your back nicely. The lower compartment opens
all the way, which gives you room for bicycle pump some tools and even small lunch. This product
is a great addition to my cycling gear..easy to use, forget your even wearing it. Also this product
allows for variations...water tube can be switched from either side and straps adjust for nearly any
body size or shape.....
Arrived early and in perfect condition
CamelBak / Amazon kudos
villagewalker November 3, 2009 R. Corcoran The camelbak hydration pack was a gift. The person receiving it seemed pleased and it had the qualities he wanted in the product. Hoping he will enjoy for many miles on the trail.
I love this thing! October 31, 2009 MTB (Silicon Valley, CA) Before getting the CamelBak I was using a water bottle when biking. I found I wind up drinking more water using the CamelBak than I do using a bottle because it is so much more convenient. This keeps me better hydrated and makes for a much better ride overall for me. Very easy to use and great for storing the usual list of goods you need to take along. It has a nice sized opening for dropping ice cubes in along with the water to keep things cool. Someone gave this item a bad rating saying the water tasted like chemicals when they used it. Not even! The only off taste I get is if the ice cubes have been in the freezer too long. I would get another one of these any day if I needed to and am considering one that holds more water for longer rides.
